HAPPY VALENTINE’S DAY 2022
From birth to death, love is the driving force that fuels our lives. It’s a celebration of everything we are. It’s a celebration of life. Choose to love every day of your life.
TO THE ONE I LOVE
You are the beginning of my day,
My first thoughts are always with you.
Throughout the day,
I stop and think about you,
With a smile on my face, my heart overflowing with love.
In those more serious moments when we have challenges to meet, I still think about you and the depth of our love.
As night-time chases away the last of the daylight,
And encloses us in its velvet cloak,
I am held close to your heart,
Secure in our love.

LOVE
Love comes in many shapes and forms. It’s the elixir of life. The panacea for life’s tumbles and rumbles, the joy in your heart when something moves you. An emotion that we cannot see, but we can feel. We can express it in so many ways with a hug, a kiss, a comforting hand upon hand, a gift, sharing a heartfelt moment when you look at each other without guile and show what’s in your heart.
A partner’s love is unconditional and all encompassing. A child’s love for their parents is trusting and non-judgemental. Love is our cornerstone, our foundation in life. It gives us strength and it has no boundaries. Love is pure.
I wrote the next verse for a lovely couple in Cape Town who were getting married. They recited it to each other as part of their vows.
THE GREATEST GIFT
The greatest gift we can give each other is our Love,
Our wealth and riches and glory lie in the depth of that love. Let us promise each other to continue allowing this love to grow, Promise each other to be honest, loyal, kind,
To communicate with each other at all times,
Be open to each other’s needs,
Never hesitate to say – “I’m sorry,”
Never hesitate to forgive each other,
Know and love each other,
Acknowledge our dif erences and accept them.
Our strength lies in the commitment we have made to each other, The truth of our love shines in our hearts and in our eyes,
Let us hold fast to this precious gift of Love,
Treat it with reverence and care,
It is the greatest gift on earth.

A MOTHER’S LOVE
A mother’s love is unconditional, all encompassing. From the very first moment when she lays eyes on her new-born child that love flares into life, and continues to grow throughout her child’s life. She doesn’t want to tear her eyes away from this perfect human being. Briefly, her gaze locks with her partner’s gaze who is also ‘in love’ with their new-born and their eyes express what is in their hearts, pure joy.
A mother’s love changes, but never fades as her child grows. It grows and develops. It is always tinged with awe at her child’s achievements. The first smile, the first step, the first word, leading onto every achievement in life, big or small. A love that finds it hard to let go when her child is ready to move out into the big wide world, but a love that is so strong her child wears it like an armour. Here are words of love from a child to her mother.
Dear Mum,
When I was little I would say to you –
“I love you as big as the sky and as deep as the sea.”
Mum, I still love you
As big as the sky and as deep as the sea,
And now my arms and heart are even bigger,
With which to hold you,
As you have held me.

LOVE FOR ONE’S GRANDCHILDREN
Love for one’s grandchildren is truly special. They are the embodiment of familial love, the continuation of a circle that never breaks. I sent this message to my eldest grand-daughter when Covid restrictions meant I couldn’t travel to see her.
‘I miss your face. The way you walk. I miss your smile. It lights up my world. I miss seeing you in onesies – cuddled up and snug. I miss talking to you and hearing what you have to say. I miss the essence of Tayla and everything you are. Precious. Clever. Loving. Kind – with a sparkle in your eyes. Growing more beautiful every day. My heart hurts because I’m not there. I miss your face. I miss you.’

SPIRITUAL LOVE
Whether you follow Allah, Jehovah, God, Universal Power, a Guru, or the multitude of spiritual paths out there, love is the basis of that belief. We pray with love in our heart. We have love in our heart when we read the scriptures. Many people start the day with prayer, asking for guidance from that universal powerhouse of love. It’s sustaining and gives us strength.
As the sun rises and the dawn light
creeps gently over the horizon,
I listen for your voice,
And throughout the day
I reach out to you.
And as the sun sets,
I rest in the haven
Of your divine love.

LOVE NEVER ENDS
From generation to generation, from birth to death we create a story of love. We create special memories that illustrate the power of that story. Everyday should be a celebration of our lives and of the lives of all the people we love. Never take it for granted.
Love is powerful, but like all beautiful plants it should be nurtured and cared for. Love will bloom and enhance our daily lives. It will form a protective shelter and give great meaning to all our thoughts and actions. Let love bloom and be the cornerstone of your life.
LOVE IS NEVER FORGOTTEN
Celebrate your age,
Welcome every thread of gold,
Welcome every wrinkle,
They all tell a story.
Look in the mirror and trace the journey that brought you, From there to here,
Remember the good times,
And forget the bad,
They are now in the past.
Create more good times,
And add even more special memories,
To tell your story as it is now.
And as you brush the strands of gold in your hair, Smile at the vision in the mirror,
Knowing that your beauty is greater than it ever was, Knowing your heart beats with love and joy.
Your true story has just begun,
And it will continue in the memories created, Long after you have passed on.
Love is never forgotten,
It’s the most glorious aspect of our lives.
